Camino Global Announces New President

After a five-month search and much prayer, the U.S. Board of Directors of Camino Global announced the appointment of Douglas Livingston as the mission’s next President, effective July 1, 2012.

A special installation service will be held on Thursday July 19th during Convocation 2012, a once-per-decade gathering of the entire mission, taking place this summer in Estes Park, Colorado.

Launch Party

On the day of the brand’s launch, staff and missionaries gathered at the US Main Office in Dallas, TX, to take time to celebrate God’s faithfulness to the mission over the last 122 years, and to seek His continued blessing for the future. Dr. Ron Blue, former CAM President (1992-2000) gave reflections on where the mission has been since he pioneered the Spain field in 1972. Dr. Dan Wicher, former CAM President (2000-2011) gave vision for where God is taking Camino in the years ahead. When the time came to launch, everyone waited for the countdown. While we waited, we heard brief testimonies of God’s faithfulness, and read comments from our missionaries watching live online.

We took a group photo (top) displaying our new Camino Global t-shirts, and then we cut the cake — Tres Leches, of course!

Before it was all over, we were able to hang up the new temporary sign to the US Main Office, making it all feel very official.

Praise God with us for His faithfulness through this mission for the past 122 years, and pray with us that this new phase of the journey will see His work in fresh, new ways.

Camino Global is set to launch on Monday

The new name for CAM International was announced shortly before the end of 2011.  Then our new logo was unveiled during the first quarter of this year. Now we are about to arrive at another significant milestone. CAM International officially becomes Camino Global in three days.

On Monday afternoon, the CAM home office staff, together with current and former missionaries in the Dallas area, will gather to celebrate the launch of Camino. Please join us in prayer between 1:00 and 2:30 pm Central Daylight Time. We will use some of this time to corporately thank God for the 122-year legacy of CAM International (known as the Central American Mission prior to 1975), as well as seek Him for Camino’s future impact on a global level.

The entire missionary family will have a similiar opportunity to reflect on our legacy and envision the future when we all gather together for a week in mid-July for Convocation 2012, in Estes Park, Colorado.

Beginning next week, emails and other communications will have a new look and feel.

And the new logo is…

Over the last couple of months, the focus of our rebranding effort has been to create a logo design that captures the Camino Global identity in a visually compelling way.

The first question to answer was,”What (if anything) is wrong with keeping the current CAM logo?” A difficult question! The branding team explored various designs that retained or refreshed the current logo. Although that logo has served CAM well for many years, the more we considered it, the less it seemed to fit the concept of ‘camino’ as a shared journey.

Therefore, other designs were pursued, which emphasized both a shared journey and the increasingly global scope of the mission. And the logo has been finalized.

So without further ado, you may now open the envelope…

Camino Global Selects Radiant

We are pleased to announce the selection of Radiant, a Christian design firm based near Toronto, to guide us through the visual elements of rebranding. Radiant will work with us to create the Camino Global logo, print media pieces (templates for prayer letters, letterhead, magazine, etc), and our website make-over.

We worked with Radiant in 2006 to design our current CAM International site, and we were very pleased with their service and with our website! We are excited to be working with them again, and to get a chance to maintain our long-standing relationship.

The process, which begins this week, will carry us to the launch in Spring 2012. The logo should be the first part of the equation, followed by print media pieces, and finally a new website.

Check back here and on our new Facebook page for more updates.

Field Missionaries Blog about CAM’s New Name

As CAM missionaries embrace the new name and prepare for the launch of a new brand identity next Spring, they are tweeting about it, and sharing and posting on Facebook. Some are writing about it on their own blogs.

Rod and Mayra Fry, and Jim and Shari Cottrill, serve in Ixtapaluca, Mexico, near Mexico City.  They recently wrote about CAM’s name change on their respective blogs:

As we discover other related blogs and stories, we’ll occasionally feature them here.

Check Back Frequently for Updates

Between now and Spring 2012, we will be hard at working designing a new logo, building a new website, and creating many other aspects of our new identity. As pieces of the process come together in the months ahead, we will provide updates here. Come back every so often to see Camino Global take shape.
